Car history:
1968 Corvette L79 327/350hp 4 Speed. First year of the Chrome Bumper Stingrays! I bought the car thinking I would use it as a great father son project - However we have lost interest in the car and have decided to keep working on old Pontiacs. It is an original L79 car with matching number motor. Transmission and Rear Axle have not been verified but this car does not seem to have been apart before. Original green and black interior. The car has had one repaint and there are a few issues in the paint but nothing horrible. This is a solid 10' car and would be a respectable driver once the mechanical are sorter. You will see three pictures showing the extent of the damage to the body. The driver's side b pillar has an odd spot that looks like someone tried to do something there but not sure what. The passenger side door slid forward and someone tried to open the door and it messed up a small place on the fender. The only other spot that I have found is the driver side footwell it looks as though there was a previous repair there. Otherwise this car wears all of it's original fiberglass panels and factory seams are present. The frame is pretty darn solid and the bird cage from what I can see is in great shape. The kick panel areas are as solid as they were the day the car was built! A bore scope was used to look up in there and no rust was found. The cowl area doesn't show any signs of rust either. The one thing I did notice is that the front crossmember is rusted out but luckily it is a $200 bolt on part. The interior is typical of what you would find on an un-restored car. The seats need to be recovered, door panels could use new clips, over all it needs a few odds and ends but with some detail time and a few parts this interior could be very nice! All of the '68 specific stuff is present! The only downside to this car is that the engine is out of the car at the moment due to the previous owner messing up the timing and washing down the cylinders. It needs rings but I wanted to do it right and give it a full rebuild and have the heads worked over to make some power. However I am trying to build a 68 Firebird and a house. The motor is missing the original pulleys, intake, and carb. How ever it is complete with non numbers matching bits. I do have the original L79 tach drive distributor. I got the motor running but it didn't run well so I went ahead and pulled it but that's where the project ended. The motor has a new clutch and the transmission shifts well. The brakes will need attention as all C3 vettes do but once attended to and a motor installed it will be a solid driver that you can drive and restore! I have a clean title for the car in my name. Yes you can buy a running base model 350 auto car for my buy it now but you won't find an L79/4 Speed Car for that kind of money. My reserve is thousands less then the Buy it Now!!! BiN $11,500.
